In upgrading a few broken aspects of Tabulas, we've had to rework the privacy issues; some of your privacy settings might of been reset. go to http://www.tabulas.com/private/profile.php?page=edit to make sure your settings are correct.

these fixes should fix problems of people not being able to have their journals posted publicly and privately on the main page.

we've also fixed up the nasty thumbnailing error. we're going to run an upgrade script soon to fix up all images that have been posted in the past few days which were not thumbnailed properly.

we've fixed up the 'join a shared journals' problem. you should be able to freely join shared journals now. shared journals are fritzy right now, but that'll be fixed soon.

we've also fixed up recurring errors with usericons and being the 'default' usericons.

attaching images to entries has been fixed.

We've fixed up the anonymous commenting problems. They now show up in your feedback log as well as being emailed if you've set the options to be such.

We've run our mass upgrade script of the gallery; all thumbnails should now be properly sized. We're also starting to store the fullsized images you upload (up to 1024 pixels) for further features to be added later to tabulas.

"Advanced" CSS editing now works. It simply lets you manually edit your CSS files instead of using our stylizer.

You are now allowed limited HTML tags in your comments (b, i, u, a). If you input a URL, the commenting script will also automatically convert it to a link now.

We've had to do restructuring of the database regarding your entries, and as such, we've had to fix up some database queries.

Hopefully nothing regarding entries is broken ... but if you see something regarding entries being broken across the site, please let me know.

I've long been uncomfortable with leaving anonymous commenter e-mails out for harvesters.

So we've implemented a new system which protects all the e-mails of anonymous users to prevent them from being harvested. Those e-mail links you see now for anonymous commenters now links to a script which you can input an e-mail subject and message; this will be dispatched to that anonymous user's e-mail from the e-mail that you've set as your Tabulas e-mail. (Note: you must be a registered Tabulas user to e-mail anonymous users).

We've also implemented a new feature for Tabulas users; you can now "mass" e-mail people who have reciprocated a 'friends' status (meaning, people who you've listed as a friend and vice versa). This is useful if you want to quickly e-mail your friends (assuming they're on Tabulas). For now, we've attached a short message indicating where the e-mail is coming from for some shameless self-promotion. I'll remove it in a few days. Go try it out =)

Hit logging now completely works, including tracking, day-by-day hit logging, and AIM tracking. You can also now clear out your AIM tracking logs.

Remember that in order to start tracking site hits on your Tabulas, you must enable hit logging in your user profile. if you enabled this when i first introduced the feature (like months ago), then it's still enabled and you now have a wealth of data to go through

Your journal now has a RSS feed at /rss/username.rss (for example, the tabulas RSS feed may be viewed here). note that you must post/edit an entry in order for the feed to be initially created (go edit a post and hit 'submit' right now).

we've added new functionality to prevent googlebot and other search engine robots from caching your tabulas. go to your profile and you may not prevent the search engine bots from caching and indexing your site. this is not done via the robots.txt method, but a simple meta-tag method.

while we were doing this we also added metatags to everyone's sites. so view your source code and marvel at the source code ...

check your archives page for a 'jump to date' option.

we've also fixed up the profiles a little bit ... it doesn't display extraneous information anymore if you haven't input it. we've also added the birthday/occupation fields into the profiles.

however, it will still poke fun at you if you have no friends.

We've completely rescripted the comments page. There should be (almost) no changes to it and it should work perfectly. Please let us know if any of your comments aren't displaying properly or something. This is the first step in a multi-step process to revamp the comments page.

Yesterday we dropped support for aliasing from http://www.tabulas.com/users/yourusername/ ... you *must* access from http://www.tabulas.com/~username/

Sorry for any inconveniences this has caused, but it was mentioned in an earlier post.

We've added some capabilities so far for ... "linkrolling" and "shared journalrolling." If you've noticed, displaying your shared journals on your main page is now optional; it's in your profile. You'll see two more fields in the profile (linkrolling and contentrolling). it is *highly* suggested you do not use this if you're using a default tabulas template (right now).

for your custom template people who are willing to risk temporary ugliness, you can use the new features to display all your links and content pages on your main page. simply use [!---link--] and [!--content] (replace brackets with greater than/less than signs). be sure you surround the tags with some sort of HTML ([br/] for instance).

in your template, input the [!--linkroll] and [!--contentroll] tags ... and it should work.

again, this is *not* recommended for tabulas users using a default template. these features are undergoing preliminary testing. we've already set a roadmap for upgrading existing tabulas templates to be more flexible; once the tabulas templates have been updated to fit these features, it will be 'safe' for you to use them.

We've slowly been upgraded around the site with some new features. Some are rudimentary and will be developed in the future ...

We implemented the first step towards limitations (aww, shucks). Free users are now limited to 75 images, beta testers are limited to 150.

Note that you are not allowed to sign-up for multiple accounts simply to get more gallery space. Users found violating this policy will have both accounts revoked and all data will be deleted.

For those of you who had exceeded your image quotas before these limits were imposed, you've been granted a little leniency. View the left box in your "Add Images" page for the exact amount of images you've been alloted for your account.

We will continue to impose limitations over the next few days. Nothing crippling though

We've moved all site options from "preferences" to "styles." Please try around those settings and make sure they're working alright. there is also the option under 'prefences' to make the 'advanced' mode the default additional mode.

We've also fixed up the Weblogs.com ping feature (finally).

There have been some comments regarding hit logging below which I need to explain.

Hit logging was never meant to be open to free users - only to beta users.

In any case, hit logging was disabled because it is the most intensive of all scripts and frankly free users should not have this kind of power. Besides logging every hit, the analyzation does require a lot of brute force; opening up the hit logging to all free users would be suicide on my servers.

Please remember as free users, I cannot give you all the free features; I have to balance out the limitations of the server and my personal financial status... this isn't some nameless corporation with deep pockets

The problem regarding weird formatting for song/books has been fixed.

I've also updated everyone's account with the proper number of CSS, template, and usericons allotment.
